SOTCHO stands for Sola Tribal Children’s Home.
This is a highly dedicated home that cares for disadvantaged boys from the lower classes in the remote areas of the Yercaud hills. This shelter is run by the Salesians. The goal is to ensure these children receive a high-quality education. They also focus on providing adequate emotional support. Furthermore, the children receive a sound (holistic) upbringing in a safe learning environment.
The core business is safeguarding the rights of children from these disadvantaged areas.
Continuity of the educational process plays a key role in this, as well as in the growth of these children’s self-esteem, self-confidence, and hope. The Salesians provide accommodation, healthy nutrition, and intellectual guidance. They also provide social support in the form of personal attention to their emotional development. Regular contact with parents regarding the children’s progress fosters a strong bond between the families and SOTCHO.
