About 15 km outside Polur lies the village of Renderipatti. Here, there is a primary school. It is supervised by the Salesians of Don Bosco, founded by Frans Schlooz. It has been run by the lay Headmaster for 24 years. Children still receive their lessons here, sitting on reed mats. A broken drain causes a stench and snakes. Furthermore, there is an urgent need to build a wall. This will serve to keep the brazen, aggressively biting monkeys at bay. Besides education, this school also serves a social function in this remote, poor community. Throughout Tamil Nadu, there is a structural need for many, especially well-equipped, schools. Good education and skilled workers immediately translate into well-paid jobs. Being able to provide for oneself is a primary path to advancement.
The aforementioned demarcated area (compound wall) and repaired sewer system have now been completed.
